Lecturer: Andrea Piccioni (Italy)

Course Content:

An intensive journey around the Italian tamburello – between history, technique, and sound experiments.

Led by Andrea Piccioni, one of the most important performers of frame drums today, this workshop takes you on a sound journey from the deep roots of Italian folk traditions to the languages of modern music: jazz, world music, and electronic music.
Through a practical approach, we explore the traditional repertoire, develop a personal and versatile technique, and discover how the tamburello can find its voice in contemporary settings by interacting with acoustic instruments, digital effects, and microphone processing.
Over the course of two days, Andrea offers a balanced mix of technical study, body instrument exercises, repertoire exercises, improvisation, creative use of electronics, and sound research.
