Khayrullo Dadoboev has been a regular at the Tamburi Mundi festival for many years, and we are all familiar with his virtuoso playing on the Tajik frame drum, the doyra. In this course, he will focus specifically on playing in the freehand position for the first time—a playing position that is equally suitable for frame drums and doyras and offers the possibility of using a wide variety of finger techniques, timbres, and effects. Khayrullo Dadoboev draws on the rich repertoire of finger techniques for the doyra and combines them in a creative mix with the classical playing style of the frame drum.
