WORKSHOP 1
Turkish Rhythms for Frame Drums

CONTENT: In this workshop, you will learn some typical rhythm patterns (both short and long) used in Turkish music. We will play them together in practical exercises and learn about various embellishments.

Previous experience playing the frame drum is desirable!
Frame drums will be provided.

WORKSHOP 2
Turkish Songs accompanied by Frame Drums
Sun, January 4, 11.30-15h (including 12.30-13.30 break for lunch)

CONTENT: One focus of this course is on singing Turkish songs of various styles together and accompanying them on the frame drum. If you already have experience with Turkish songs, you can expand your repertoire here! If you are singing Turkish songs for the first time, you are just as welcome—let yourself be surprised!

Tuğba Gülyeşil ist eine neue eigenständige Stimme in der Musikszene Istanbuls.
In der Türkei ist die Sängerin durch Auftritte in verschiedenen Fernsehsendungen schon einem größeren Publikum bekannt. Ihre Musik ist einfach, pur, moduliert die poetischen Texte traditioneller türkischer Lieder. Auf einzigartige Art und Weise verbindet sie ihre klare Stimme mit dem Klang der Rahmentrommel und gibt den Liedern eine unmittelbare Präsenz und Dringlichkeit, der man sich kaum entziehen kann.

In Freiburg begegnen sich Tuğba Gülyeşil und Murat Coşkun zum ersten Mal persönlich. Neben Tuğbas Liedern präsentieren sie ein gemeinsames Programm, teilweise improvisiert, teilweise neu arrangiert und interpretiert. Als Gast gesellt sich Malika Coşkun dazu, die als junge Rahmentrommlerin mit ihrem Vater schon auf einigen Konzerten zu sehen war.

Die anatolische Trommeltradition hält Einzug im Alten Wiehrebahnhof!
