Frame drum playing is mainly dominated by eastern rhythms which are usually homophonic, that means different drums playing the same groove and ornamenting it. But what if different drums play different patterns that interweave to form an intricate groove and even melody? We will explore some traditional rhythms from Northern Africa and some recently composed examples. |
