This two days frame drum basic course offers instruction in technique, traditional and modern rhythms, and training to strengthen the general sense of rhythm.

The three basic playing positions on the frame drum (lapstyle, upright, freehand) are introduced and practiced, basic rhythmic understanding is deepened and cultural contexts are explained. Step by step we increase playing speed, technique and complexity of the rhythms.

Playing together and being carried in the group are as much a part of this as body awareness, mindfulness and positive mindset.

In this course you can develop a good foundation for playing the frame drum and take away a box full of ideas and suggestions to further develop your own playing.

As a lecturer for oriental percussion and frame drums, Marliese Glück has more than 15 years of teaching experience. She is a musicologist, rhythm trainer (FMZ Munich) and graduate of the Tamburi Mundi Frame Drum Academy. Respect for tradition but also joy in innovation and exchange are as much a part of her teaching as the passion to share her personal experiences and insights and thus support people on their individual way to frame drumming.
