Dave Boyd (Ireland)
His career embraces performance, recording and composing in theatre, dance, film, television, combined with extensive education and facilitation work. A multi instrumentalist – he plays a wide range of hand percussion - specialising in the bodhrán, and is a highly regarded musical director, producer, accompanist, and charismatic live performer.
As a composer he has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Abbey Theatre, Dublin, BBC, Retina Dance Company, Antwerp, Scottish Dance Theatre, Scottish Ballet and the Roundhouse, London. He has played bodhrán on a trampoline and also while swinging from the side of a building on a rope. The Irish Times described percussion concert ‘The Elements’ - written with Robbie Harris - as ‘one of the most engaging and uplifting performances I have ever attended’.
He has created several cross cultural ensembles - most recently for Fora do Lugar Festival in Idanha a Nova, UNESCO City of Music in Portugal. Salvage - a new album of his work as a composer is currently available.
