Samir starts his workshop with a short introduction into Oriental songs. In the course of this workshop the participants learn some of the popular songs from different Arabian countries (for example Syria, Libanon, Irak, Sudan, Egypt and North Africa) and get a good overview about the different styles. Most of these songs are unisonous.
Samir accompanies the choir with oud or drum. Next to the choir project, in the workshop “Drum Your Song”, the same pieces will be arranged and rehearsed. The choir and the drumming group will join for 1,5 hours and together they will discover the whole dynamics of Arabian songs.
On Sunday, the 29.07. at 18.00 p.m., a common performance will take place during a short concert in the church “Freiburger Christuskirche”.
If desired, Samir can provide the participants with notes and song texts before the workshop starts.
