Theresia Bothe (Mexico/CH/Italy/...)

Theresia Bothe is a wanderer between the cultures: she was born in Canada as a child of German- Irish parents and grew up in Mexico. As an adult she lived for a long time in Switzerland before she recently moved to Sicily. Because of her strong presence and her perceptible joy in collective singing, she already enthused the participants of the choir project at the Tamburi Mundi Festival 2016.  We are happy to welcome her again this year with a surely fascinating program!

Instruments: voice

Content of the workshop:

The interaction of drums and voice is an ancient bond in the history of mankind. In the choir workshop with Theresia, we will discover tunes from different cultures, diving deeply into the sound colors of their oral tradition.

In a second part of the workshop we will join the percussion group of Paolo Rossetti Murittu, that meanwhile had worked on grooves and rhythms to accompany our tunes. In the fusion of choir and percussion, our voices will melt together with the pulse of the drums.

That enables us to trace the emotions that accompanied the tunes in their oral tradition and by means of our common singing, we give rise to new emotions.

At the end of the workshop, we will have a little common presentation of choir and percussion on Sunday at 6 pm on the Tamburi Mundi Festival at the E-Werk.

Language of instruction:

German / English

Level: All people are welcome, it is conceived for all levels.
